3. AI-Generated Content Limitations

3.1 Accuracy and Mechanical Balance

AI-generated stat blocks, NPCs, encounters, and backstories are approximations. They may contain mechanical inconsistencies, include legal-but-unplayable rule combinations, miss edge cases, or vary in tone/depth between generations.

GMs should review and adjust all generated content before using it in actual play. A stat block that appears CR 8 may not be balanced for your specific party.

3.2 Copyrightability

Per US copyright law (Thaler v. Perlmutter, 2023-2025) and US Copyright Office guidance (March 2023):

• Content generated entirely by AI is not eligible for copyright protection in the US.
• Content with meaningful human creative contribution may be copyrightable, but only the human-authored portions are protected.

Consult an attorney if copyright protection is material to your use case.

3.3 Originality

We employ multi-layer content filters to minimize generation of copyrighted/trademarked third-party content. AI systems are imperfect. You bear responsibility for:

• Verifying that generated content does not infringe third-party rights.
• Modifying content that resembles copyrighted material before commercial use.
• Reviewing characters, names, and settings before publication.

4. No Game Outcome Guarantees

We are not liable for:

• Total Party Kills (TPKs) caused by encounters that turned out too difficult.
• Player dissatisfaction with NPCs, backstories, or stat blocks.
• Disputes between GMs and players over balance or rules interpretation.
• Time spent reviewing or editing AI outputs.

5e Maker is a starting point, not a finished product. If a session goes poorly because of an unbalanced encounter, that's part of running tabletop games.
